Christmas DIY Series {Part 3} – Personal Touches

December 15, 2016

Welcome to my last and final part of my Christmas DIY Series {Part 3} – Personal Touches. Click links to my part 1 and part 2 in case you have missed them and need some fun DIY ideas! I am SO glad so many of you have been loving these series and I can’t wait to share with you 3 NEW IDEAS that are so affordable, easy, and FUN!

Let’s begin!

1) Hanging Snowflakes

This one is probably the easiest of the lot. You can pretty much hang these anywhere in the house. I have chosen to hang them by my window for a cozier, snowy, Christmassy feel.

Materials:

  1. Snowflakes
  2. Thread
  3. Tape (or hooks-optional)
  4. Scissors

Directions:

  1. Once you have gathered your snowflakes, simply loop in your thread through the snowflake and tie a knot at the end to hold it in place.
  2. Tape that knotted end at the top of the window ceiling or you can hook it in if it is too visible, depending on where you choose to hang your snowflakes.

2) Painted Gingerbread Men

This particular one was the most fun to do because you can get SO creative and crafty and show a bit of your personality by painting each of these cute cut-out gingerbread men differently.

Materials:

  1. Cut-out Gingerbread Men
  2. Paints (Acrylics)
  3. Paint Brush
  4. Palette
  5. Thread
  6. Scizzors
  7. Tape

Directions:

In case you do not find these cut-outs from your craft store, you could always go ahead and make them yourself too by using some brown felt paper. Lucky enough, I stumbled upon these from the dollar tree and instantly figured I would paint and hang these up in my dining area.

  1. All you have to do is paint your gingerbread men/women in any desired way. Make them fun and quirky to spice up the holidays. This is a great project to do with friends and family to show off a bit of everyone’s personality!
  2. Once your gingerbread men have dried up, turn them around and tape your thread through the middle of each of them.
  3. Again you can either hook or hang them at the end. I went ahead and taped the ends to the wall.
  4. To cover the tape marks at the end of the thread I went ahead and embellished my hanging gingerbread men with a burlap bow and taped that to the back as well.

3) Personalized Frame

Personalized frames are my favorite to do and they always bring in such a special feel. Plus they look so unique and add in a great touch of your own.

Materials:

  1. A frame
  2. Glitter cardboard paper
  3. Strings
  4. Ribbon
  5. Fir twigs
  6. Scissors
  7. Tape
  8. Pencil

Directions:

  1. To make life a bit easier, you can very well go for cut-out letters of your choice or trace and cut them like I did.
  2. Tape one end of your string to the back of each letter and the other end to the back of the frame.
  3. You can go all out with this step and decorate your frame all around or as you wish. I chose to keep it simple and only décor the top right of my frame with a red ribbon and a fir twig.

Now, wasn’t that so fun and easy!? I love this time of year because I think this is the only time you can get away with doing as many DIY projects you want without making your house look like a craft shop. Ha-ha. Jokes aside, I genuinely love creating little bits and pieces of my own; I just think it makes your house even warmer and special during the holidays! Don’t you think!??

Really hope you guys enjoyed these and let me know which one out of all of the Christmas DIY Series I have done, stood out to you the most!???
