I’m never usually the one pumped up in making any specific New Year’s resolutions, but this year I thought since I have started my blog and this post is officially going down in writing, I will have to take it seriously. If anything, it would be a good place to come back to for some re-assurance to set an uplifting mood, when I feel otherwise!
I have narrowed it down to 6 steps, to make it reasonable and doable!
I feel like it is so very easy to get caught up in everyday life situations and get worried about the most frivolous things you could possibly imagine! Sometimes the value of life is truly undermined until something really serious happens one day and then everything is suddenly put into perspective. At times, I get strained at completely irrelevant things until I’ve been asked and reminded (by my husband) that would it make the situation any better if you are stressed. This is definitely easier said than done but if really pondered upon it can make a massive difference in your life and would in turn make you a much happier person on the whole! So, take one situation at a time and solve it calmly and you will be surprised how things can resolve by itself most of the time!
Live in the Moment!
This to me is really an important one because I believe it really does shape who you are. You will often find that the people who think of the future a lot are often the ones who are easily stressed/overworked and it surely shows in their behaviour and mannerism as a whole. Not that I’m saying it’s not good to plan ahead and have goals; that is absolutely important as well but what fun it is to live your life in a way where you only work for tomorrow and forget to live today? You have to find a fine balance between the two and make sure that you are enjoying the present because let’s face it, who knows whether we even have tomorrow? So, this year I’m definitely going to work hard in living in the moment because that is what life is about and I will make the most of it!
Travelling is absolutely on my list for this year! There’s a quote (mentioned below) I read a while back that has stuck with me ever since and I can’t let it go. The minute I read it, it really touched me because a lot of people hesitate doing such things because it may seem out of their comfort zone but that is what intrigued me to stand by it and hence travel more often to meet new people to just learn and grow!
“Become friends with people who aren’t your age. Hangout with people whose first language isn’t the same as yours. Get to know someone who doesn’t come from your social class. This is how you can see the world. This is how you grow.” – Unknown
This is what brings me to my next resolution, which is stepping out from my comfort zone!
Say YES and Step Out From Your Comfort Zone!
Everyone has their little soft cozy spots where they would rather just curl up in a ball and remain in there for as long as they wanted. I personally have plenty of those but have made it a point to just say YES to more things and experience something new. With blogging being my new hobby, I definitely want to keep it my passion since I love photography and writing so I thought why not? Whether it’s a new activity, sport, hobby, travelling, school, job, hanging out with different people, just say YES even though it may seem a little uneasy and out of your comfort zone! The worst thing that could happen is that you would hate it but that’s okay because at least you gave it a go and didn’t wimp out. At the most you would have learned something new about yourself and maybe discovered something else that you would like instead. Life is an experiment, success and failure is all a part of it so go out there a try something new!
I really want to keep it a mission to read more books! I adore reading but sometimes I simply do not make enough time for it; I’ve got to make it a priority to read more and keep it a habit to read even a little before I sleep. If any of you have any recommendations of really good reads, please comment and let me know!! Would love, love to broaden my horizon!
Working Out / Eating a Balanced Diet
This is one thing I start and stop very often (I’m sure most people can resonate…haha.) I want to keep it a point to be more regular even if it means working out for 15-20 minutes a day! Eating a balanced diet is also as important because as they say a healthy outside starts from the inside! Drinking more water is also on my top list; it is very easy to forget to stay hydrated throughout the day but hopefully 2016 won’t fail me!
So, there we have it! Phew. New Year’s resolutions finally written. Now comes the hard part, following them! And YES, I know I can do it and so can you..:)
