HALF MOON BAY – THE WORLD OF MIST AND FOG
It has been a while since I last did a travel post. I went on a day trip to Half Moon Bay last weekend and after witnessing its enchanting beauty, I found my perfect opportunity for a travel post. California is known for its heat, clear skies, beaches and palm trees. BUT like all places it has its hidden beauties. Half Moon Bay is not far from where I live in San Jose and is south of San Francisco. I have been here before but it never fails to amaze me. Only an hour away from where I live, this place is always cooler in temperature with cloudy, misty skies. Thick, rolling clouds cover huge mountain tops and you can literally see your destination approaching from miles away. It was absolutely breathtaking but I wont lie, it was also a little frantically overwhelming. Just the thought of you approaching the unknown and being amidst of all that dense cloud and fog is all together enchanting and exciting.
Into the wild we go!
And look what we found! – Christmas tress waiting for new homes!
We decided to park a little further away from the beach and walk the local town which was SO fun to take in. Since it was a little chilly, we stopped by at a local coffee shop for a hot latte. The town was absolutely adorable with beach homes, antique shops, and little organic farmers market stalls.
It was so nice to see camp site lodging and families doing barbecue along the top of the beach. I wish I had a pic of that but I did not plan on sharing this until I returned home. Good thing I still took some pictures along the way! There was a perfect walking strip and a bicycle lane for people who preferred walking on top of the beach, along the cliff instead, which is what we did since the water was freezing cold.
Even the tress looked freakishly picturesque – it’s hard to explain but it looked just like a still-life painting. They had no movement to them whats so ever and were instead almost frozen-like in weird positions and shapes. I’m afraid you may not be able to see that too well in this picture but just know that they were not your usual tress, which was awesome.
Of course, I had to stop and take pictures of flowers! It’s my all time favourite thing to do- my insta followers will agree 🙂
The next time around, I plan on getting my art supplies and just painting while overlooking this astonishing peaceful view. I could sit here all day. So glad this place is not too far from my home.
If I had to describe Half Moon Bay in one sentence, I would call it ‘A breath of fresh air’ – literally. As weird as it may sound, it was just so nice to get away from that heat and indulge myself in something the polar opposite. A much needed breather, indeed! Oh and I must add this made me SUPER EXCITED for fall to come because being there felt like it was fall already – you could just smell it in the air. More importantly, this gave me that extra needed boost and inspiration to work on my fall collection which will be releasing veryyy sooon!! Can’t contain my excitement!
